HOSPITAL MEMORIES OF THE Pitchfork

seventy years ago in San Nicolas, my people,

Easter was as well I remember.

Holy Thursday was the second of the three
Thursday
bright with many ceremonies
could be important.

To make the front of the altar Monument

four planks were nailed to frames
women lined.

With shawls
bedspreads, curtains and pictures on that day

out the old ark saved.

half-pound candles all over the world

had to look carefully at the Monument
and save.

worth a thousand things to be present.
clouds conjured
and many evils removed.

With so much to prevent candle fires,
shift, servers velábamos
The Monument.

As payment for these services
our good priest gave us

a few olives and a glass of lemonade.

The Good Friday
was in mourning, rattles
to be dead the Lord
the bells did not sound.

The
Tenebrae followed him self-conscious,

waiting to put out the last candle.

With starting signal,
in the darkened church,
storm rattles and noisemakers
good moves.

In the spirit shrunk

enjoyed ours until two slaps
order was given to the concert.

Saturday morning Baptistery
stack

the water we filled with pots from the garden.

so much water in the Cirio
plunged, and being baptized

rites and lit.

Yet
as excess water was blessed, filled many jars

carrying the neighbors.

With ringing of bells
The Lord resurrected

leaving everything in order to celebrate Easter.

Easter Sunday:
full of happiness and joy, the Alleluia was sung

and everybody happy.

These old customs so we contribute

and make new ones, with our support
these rites are not lost.
